Beam Legal Team is proud supporters of Black History Month and are currently
sponsoring “Creating History” with Oscar and Grammy award-winning
songwriter Che “Rhymefest” Smith. Every Wednesday, through
March 1, the series will showcase the stories and contributions of exceptional
African Americans who are making a difference in Chicago.
The series has, thus far, had the honor of spotlighting two inspirational
individuals, Emile Cambry and Beverly Davis. Cambry is the founder of
Blue 1647, which was created as a space for individuals who felt disenfranchised
and wanted to learn about business and technology. Blue 1647 brings culture
and technology together, which Cambry feels are often needlessly separated.
Beverly Davis is the founder of Prosperity House, which is a non-profit,
community-based transitional living home. Davis has been helping women
in crisis get off the streets and into new, productive lives for nearly
a decade. The house has also expanded into helping men and veterans who
are having problems.
Toronzo Cannon is one of Chicago’s favorite Blues musicians, known
for his innovation with his music. During the day Cannon is a bus driver
for the Chicago Transit Authority. By night, he is one of the city’s
most popular Blues musicians.
Wilbur Milhouse is the founder and owner of Milhouse Engineering &
Construction. Milhouse built the largest minority engineering firm in
the state of Illinois. It is important to Milhouse that his firm represents
a diverse group of individuals because he believes that diversity is power.
As sponsors of this incredible series, Beam Legal Team are also featuring
videos on these courageous, history-making individuals on our website.
We will feature more videos as the series continues, so be sure to check
back for more.
