Held on June 16th, 2022 at the Theater on the Lake in Chicago, the Great Blue Benefit event featured a silent auction of various interesting items, art pieces, and collectibles. Proceeds from the event directly fund the Alliance for the Great Lakes, which is dedicated to keeping the Great Lakes “clean, safe, and accessible for all generations,” as the organization says. Our firm shares the organization’s belief that the Great Lakes are integral to our communities, so they must be protected, maintained, and appreciated.
In 2021, the Alliance for the Great Lakes was able to:
- Fundraise more than $200 million and secure state and federal funding that will be used to build the Brandon Road project, as well as keep invasive carp species out of the Great Lakes.
- Plan and fund a massive cleanup project that will help clear all contamination from many sites across the Great Lakes by no later than 2030.
- Continue its Adopt-a-Beach program that engages more than 10,000 people each year to help keep the Great Lakes’ shorelines clean.
