The Journal Times has published an in-depth article on Beam Legal Team’s recent victory in a medical malpractice lawsuit involving a young girl with cerebral palsy (the full article may require a subscription to access). After a three-week trial, a Racine County jury awarded $10.2 million to Monica Cerna and her daughter Ka’Mya Minor, finding that negligence by medical providers at Ascension All Saints Hospital caused the child’s birth injuries.
As reported in the article, Beam Legal Team successfully argued that Ka’Mya’s medical team administered excessive amounts of Pitocin during labor, causing too many contractions that cut off her oxygen supply. Now six years old, Ka’Mya faces the challenges of cerebral palsy but continues to make progress, learning sign language and enjoying swimming lessons.
Additional details about how we fought for Ka’Mya can be found in our press release. If your family has also been affected by a preventable birth injury, contact us to discuss your legal options.
