Misericordia is a non-profit organization that provides living arrangements, employment opportunities, and educational care to children and adults struggling with mild to profound disabilities. Since 1921, Misericordia has helped hundreds of residents achieve greater independence. It currently serves more than 600 children and adults from a variety of racial, ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds. Based out of a 31-acre campus in Chicago, the organization provides ample opportunity for residents to engage in community activities and enjoy other programs.
Misericordia is run by the Sisters of Mercy under the Catholic Archdioceses of Chicago. However, most of the funds for its programs, new buildings, and renovations are obtained through private fundraising events. With the support of volunteers and the generosity of corporations, individuals, and families, Misericordia strives to make its mission statement a reality – to provide the highest quality training, housing, and employment opportunities to meet the specific needs of each child and adult.
Family Fest Fundraiser
The Family Festival is the biggest fundraising event that occurs annually for Misericordia. It offers food, raffles, and live entertainment to guests, and charges a small entrance fee for the day-long festivities. This year, it was held on September 10, and our firm helped sponsor the event. In fact, one of our lawyers, Matt Patterson, has been a volunteer at Misericordia for many years. His mom has also served as a teacher and has volunteered at the organization for 30 years. We are proud to partner with Misericordia to help disabled children and adults gain new independence and grow in their physical, social, and vocational abilities.
